Floodlights restriction hurts Sri Lanka's chase

Sri Lanka Cricket's attempts to cut operational costs has affected the cricket in the first ODI, as Sri Lanka lost wickets chasing a Duckworth-Lewis equation, when light faded quickly in the late afternoon. Angelo Mathews said the deteriorating light at the Premadasa Stadium had spurred a change...

yes, chasing a Duckworth-Lewis equation was the key to this loss. I was at the ground and it was pretty dark at 5 p.m. And south africa wasted too much time in between overs! their over rate was pretty poor!

Mathews had not been consulted before SLC and CSA signed the memorandum of understanding that restricted the floodlights.
SLC fools try to cut down operational costs and as a result Sri Lanka lost the yesterday match.
Yes, Sanga and Thirimanne were sensibly implementing the final stage of the run chase even in the darkness.

Is it Floodlight restriction or a talent restriction? Ashan Priyanjan and Lahiru Barimanna all are useless when they are compared with their south african counterparts. Mahela J is too old to score quick runs.

OMG Sakthivel!!!! :O :O :O You said you'll definitely be back on IC for our England tour - when you came back for a few days after you went missing for about two/three months during the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup - but you didn't :( Missed youuu :(
And what about that #SachinWho thing??? Funny, eh? :D :D LOL #PityTheIndians

Anyway, back to the match. When Thiri got out (37.1 overs) there were 13 overs (78 balls) left with 89 runs to get and we were only six runs behind the D/L par score at the start of that over. With Sanga still at the crease anything was possible. A prime example is the Sri Lanka vs India match in the Asia Cup: wickets kept falling around Sanga but he kept his cool, got a century and took Sri Lanka to victory. This match was almost identical to that and could've ended that way too, IF Thiri (the last recognised batsman) stayed a few more overs with Sanga. Sanga was clearly disappointed with Thiri's stupid shot and probably hadn't got that out of his mind which resulted in him playing a stupid shot himself, two balls later. With the depreciating light and the D/L score pressure, Sanga crumbled, which doesn't happen that often but nobody's perfect.

South Africa used a four-man pace attack so they had an appalling over rate and they kept delaying - (Cricinfo) 'Nathan: "13 overs to go with less than 30 minutes of play left. Why was the delay. Slow over rate?" Will happen with a four man pace attack' - which was the case with England against us in our last tour, which ended with Cook getting fined. Tactics or not by South Africa, this made it worse for the batsmen.

That said, we DO carry some passengers in our team and we know who they are. Anyway, you win some, you lose some and TBF we were due a loss. This IS a GAME after all, and SL fans know it perfectly well unlike fans of 'some' countries.

Peace! <3

Add to that: we dropped many catches, bowled bad, played silly shots and fielded disgustingly. :)
