Herath bowled well (as usual) but I think sandakan made the difference... Herath got his wickets becoz sandakan completely fazed the batsmen with his spin.. It was amazing to watch... Sandakan was the first one to turn the ball in the second innings, untill that joe burn's wicket, australia were cruising... Amazing find.. Just imagine herath, sandakan, vandersay/kaushal playing on a turning track!!! We can beat anyone...

Agree N.M.M.

Credit to the selectors for picking an attack that suits Sri Lanka's strength and Australia's weakness aside from conditions.
Playing a medium pacer for sake of it would have been useless after spate of injuries.

The key is they were all different types of spinners so still variety. Bit like West Indies using 4 pacemen or India's famous 4 spinners last century.

Having said that Dilruwan may have been one spinner too many with De Silva as allrounder. Might be okay in Galle but that could be where they could strengthen the batting or consider a pacemen if the likes of Chameera and Prasad fit.

The chinaman is a huge filip. As many top order batsmen would have little practice against such a bowler, so you can imagine the lower order trying to cope.
Bowling teams out has been Sri Lanka's issue especially in Test cricket. I mean when they are down and out, they have let the opposition's lower order recover and sometimes take the game away. With someone like Sandakan hopefully this will change. Because if he doesn't get wicket, he might force batsmen to take risk against bowler at the other end and create a wicket.

Positive signs for Sri Lanka. Just need to ensure the bowlers all stay fit, and then work on the batting especially the openers

The one common thing everyone were lamenting in the england tour was the lack of variety in our bowling.. I see that problem solved now... We have right arm fast(chameera, pradeep) , right arm swing(prasad, mathews) , left arm seamers (vishwa, etc), offspinners (herath, dilruwan, kaushal), wrist spinners (vandersay, sandakan).... Simply superb... And they all are very good, not just half bowlers... Very bright future for slc..

By considering the future challenges (Specially the SA tour at the end of this year), I would like to suggest to find few more bowling options. let's hope that we are right in the middle of that process since we seebowlers like Sandakan. I feel Chameera might be fit when the ODIs and the T20I are started but I would like to suggest not to take him immediately and Instead of him, we can test few more options like Binura,Vishwa,Asitha,Rajitha etc. specially during the shorter versions because,

1. We can't overload Chameera because that is not going to help him and the team.
2. Can't rely heavily on Prasad even for test matches since he has been injury prone during last few months.

3. Pradeep seems to be shaping up as a fine bowler for test matches but I don't feel he is okay in ODIs and t20i s (We have seen that in England)

4. I'm not sure about Lakmal's performances in both test and shorter formats by considering his last performances in England.

Regarding spinners, Sandakan & Vandersay seem be the front runners with veteran Herath and I would like to see PHT immediate after remodeling his action with doosra. All & all I feel we are gonna see a very fine bowling attack which troubles the oppositions
