Its easy to blame the selectors but the underlying here is the selected players are simply not up to standard at international cricket forcing the selectors in chasing for options.

Having said that how many times have we said from years back, to please give a selected player a chance to settle down. Now in the selectors defense (and I am a strong critic) they gave Thirimane how many opportunities and he failed (where is he now by the way?).

On the other hand a guy like Shanaka was given a few games and thrown out and that goes for a string of others. Then we have the case of Perera - puts in a performance every 15th game to keep his name in the hat.

Shouldn't be surprised - the price we pay for having a sub standard first class set up.
