I fully agree with author's view. They just sent back Jeffrey Vandersay for a breach of conduct, trying to paint a rosy picture of a strict discipline to the world. When national skipper Chandimal was caught red-handedly on camera, committing one of the most disgraceful violations in the middle, the same management supported him by holding the test for 2 hour delay!

That shameful act not only resulted in more damage to the already tarnished image of the nation, it also ended up with a level 3 breach in conduct of all 3 stooges (Chandimal the skipper, Hathurusinghe the coach & Gurusinghe the manager) manning the sinking ship of SL.

After point-blankly getting in trouble for cheating, who would appeal & try to defend a non-defensible case in front of the world? That was resulted in more humiliation & attracting more criticism from all corners of the cricketing world. Especially at the expense of a nation's pride? Instead, the right thing SLC should have done was, punishing Chandimal severely for his unforgivable conduct, like what the Aussies did to their culprits.

I think this latest happenings made the deplorable mess already in SLC, to a level beyond recovery.

As a skipper representing the whole Nation, Dinesh Chandimal should take the whole responsibility for this whole scenario & for stooping to a level never seen before from a SL captain in history.

As some SL fans think, victimized card won't help in defense of such violation committed as precisely defined in the book. Vandersay's punishment is a joke, compared to this mess.

Great article and good question at the end - how much worse can it become before the political henchman leave the game alone? Well the answer is simple - as long as there is money the politicians will gather around with their henchman to loot as they have been. They will not care how good or bad we are at the game, just the loot.
