Sangakkara undecided on Test retirement - Mathews

Photo
"He is still deciding on that, but he will hold a press conference within next two-three days to announce his decision" said Mathews. Sangakkara who is nearing his retirement hasn't announced specified dates about his retirement, but earlier he said he won't be playing more than two Test series...

KS should retire after the next test.

I don't understand how he is contracted to play for Surrey instead of for Sri Lanka. Didn't he know about the 3-Test series against Pakistan when he signed for Surrey?

Why did Mathews beg KS to continue? Don't we have enough talent to play without Sangakkara?

Let him go! NOBODY is bigger than the game.

We all should thank KS for all he has done to SL and Cricket and wish him well. And KS should be very grateful to Sri Lanka for giving him the opportunity to be the man who he is today.

I think the time has come to play without him.

Why are we constantly hearing from someone else about Sanga's retirement plans? When is he going to publicly announce his plans and stick by them? This issue has become something of a circus largely because of Sanga's silence on the matter. He has got himself between a rock and a hard place on this issue. Make the decision, announce it, move on.

Mathews why try to depend on Sanga so much if you have selected a squad with guys consecutively played over 2 years with ample opportunities to mature by now? That shows the confidence level you have with the bunch you all selected, that never seemed capable of staying at the wicket long enough to put up a 50 run partnership. Then how come you ignore that guy Upul Tharanga who has 8 years experience & many international records in batting?

Didn't he scored 2 near hundreds from the 4 matches given to him recently, topping 300 runs, averaging about 40?

Not sure what is going on here, I thought Sanga already made his call - to play 2 tests in this series and one in the next?

Well said Mr. Sirisena.
KS has made his retirement a significant distraction from the main objective of winning the Test series. Mr. Sangakkara, are you thinking about a "Send OFF" for you? If so, you are being unfair to the welfare of SL cricket. We can not sacrifice a game for your "send off". Do what Dilshan did.
If you want to retire, make the announcement and leave. Thank you very much for everything you have done for SL Cricket. But remember that Sri Lanka has helped players like you and MJ to be compensated VERY HANDSOMELY for playing cricket.
SLC can arrange a proper sendoff later. There is no doubt that he deserves one. Invite him as the chief guest during a Test match and recognize his service. But, it is not the important issue now.
NOBODY is bigger than the game.
