Sri Lanka Cricket issues ultimatum to Lasith Malinga

Fast bowler Lasith Malinga's international career looks in jeopardy after Sri Lanka Cricket issued the 34-year-old an ultimatum to return home from India to play domestic cricket if he intended to be recalled to the national side. Malinga last represented the country more than seven months ago...

Good incentive for the legend Malinga to participate in Inter-Provincial ODI tournament with the aim of serving SL in WC as a veteran mentoring Quick and a better death bowler. Malinga has a legitimate reason to break the Mumbai mentoring contract. I hope coach Malela/Mumbai will release Malinga in good faith. In fact, the mentoring or coaching role is always open after another four years. I certainly agree with management that all returning senior players (after injury or any reason) should display their form in domestic tournaments prior to WI series. Malinga, please don’t miss the golden opportunity as the major obstacle was kicked out recently and the sky opened the door for you.

Normally I would agree with such a call but are the selectors and board bullshitting about him having and legitimate chance of a recall...given their past statements it would seem so....selectors and board should just be honest and let him retire.

If SLC serious about selections how about asking the Chairman of Selectors to dedicate himself full time to this role or fulltime as a match referee and not a hat in each ring and hoping for the best
