Sri Lanka name Dhananjaya in Test squad; Lakmal named vice-captain

Sri Lanka have named offspinner Akila Dhananjaya in the 16-member squad for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh that gets underway later this month. The 24-year-old has been a regular in Sri Lanka's limited-overs sides in the last six months, but he has not featured in a Test match so far.

Congrat! Lakmal well deserves to be VC who always performs above his ability with displaying competitive spirit. Injury prone Mathew should have been left out from Test scenario completely. UT should have brought back until Asela gets fit to play test-cricket. Now the youngsters (KM, DdeS, Roshen) are burdened with enormous batting pressure. Hopefully, Dikka and Danush keep their own natural buoyant batting spirit for all three formats.

If he was fit, I am not sure why Asela was not picked. I am also not convinced by Danushka who is a decent limited overs player but not sure he has the technique for test cricket. Also not sure he has the runs at first class level for earn a call up.

Guys be more logical, Asela is not axed he is just rested only because he has no room in the team, either Dhanajaya Silva, Roshen Silva or Angi should stay out for Asela to play in the playing 11 adding him in the squad and not play him will make his confidence shattered. .They have done the same thing with Chandi where he was not included to the squad when they want him to stay out of playing 11.
