'Sri Lanka schools cricket needs total revamp'

We are now reaching the end of another School Cricket season and once again we are faced with some very confusing scenarios with regard to the various tournaments conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association (SLSCA), the rankings of the teams and finally the distribution of awards...

Interesting point (and worrying) but firstly, SLC are busy looting and pushing personal agendas so they dont have time to run the game at the grass roots let alone at national level. For a wonder the annual contracts dispute hasnt come up in the middle of the WC!

From a distance, the issue with the schools seems to be the same as the first calss strucutre - too many teams diluting the standard resulting in producing poor quality cricketers! The question is how do you standadize the schools in to different divisions. The author seems to suggest what was the case in the past - bigger and more infulential (mainly colombo based) schools are div 1. I beleive this was the same principle that was not accepted and resulted in the dulution of the first class strucutre so not sure if this will work.

If we are serious we had to start somewhere and I would draw the line on the the basis suggested and bottom 2 drop to div 2 and top come up. The challenge will be the starting point!
