Straight from the shoulder

"We need to play on good wickets and try and win, rather than on dusty wickets…… need to think out of the box if we wish to win away". These were the words of Angelo Mathews the Sri Lankan Skipper in Pallekele, after the third straight ODI loss against the South Africans...

There's a lot going on in this read but wish to point out two issues. First, lets not fool ourselves with the 3-2 result, we were 3-0 down and not even in the park as far as competing. SA rubbed our face in the ground in our own conditions and we were no where. AFTER they won the series we won two games which is nice but a bit late.

Secondly, lets get over Mathews the bowler, this is simply not worth a risk. Mathews must be the rock in our batting come the WC. We don't want him tryin to bowl, get injured and miss the WC!

I agree. Mathews should not bowl at all anymore leading up to the world cup. After the world cup he can try bowling again because he is a very economical bowler.
