Only deserving choices in this squad on current batting form merits seen in Super Provincial 4-day tournament are; Mahela Udawaththa, Roshen Silva & Dickwella.

Upul Tharanga (FC av 40 - Test av 32) is the only player to make a ton (from 4 innings -134 runs @ 34 av) among all senior players who participated in that high-profile tournament.

Most of them totally failed to make any impression at all in it (Chandimal- 4 ings- 72 runs@ 18av / injury prone useless Mathews- 2 ings - 28 runs @ 14 av / Dimuth- 6 ings -149 runs @ 24 av - but made big test runs last year like overlooked Tharanga did in ODIs)..... yet these lucky bunch automatically get selected to every squad despite poor form & repeated failures in recent times.. Only 2 others Roshen Silva & Dickwella made centuries among current regular international guys participated in that Super4 tournament.

Totally Overlooking a senior front order batter like Upul Tharanga again, despite his immaculate form to make big scores in both formats shows the obvious disparity/partiality in selections (Tharanga made another match winning big 127 today with 16x4s & 6 for the champion Galle team). Hathurusinghe's tilted policy of backing only his favorites like Chandimal to get automatic selections cross all formats, despite repeated failures/unsuitability & poor form is so clear to everyone.

If SL is seriously thinking about improving the ICC rankings, this disparity/favoritism (merit-less COLOMBO based gratis selection preferences) got to be STOPPED.!

No wonder why! selections couldn't be any different from rest of the despicable happenings repeatedly occurring all around. Mustn't forget, today we are living in a totally messed up island paradise under sickly admins..... making a heaven for buddies & pushing the rest to hell :((

Nisala Tharaka should have been picked instead of lahiru Kumara.

I think this is the right time to go for young spinners rather than sticking with herath and dilruwan.

Lol!! The usual conspirators are back. Tharanga scores a century against a lackadaisical bowling yesterday and today they all come out from the caves. Today is Andrew Silva AKA Julius Ceaser. Tomorrow it will be See Through will be back. Andrew I can feel your pain. But I think selection committee made the right choice. Tharanga made himself unavailable for Test so blaming the selectors is bit rich. Hopefully he will be in the one day squad. Let's hope so.

What is it with Chameera and injuries! Unearth a paceman after yonks and he can't stay on the park. He has hardly played any international cricket but is constantly injured. Also what has happened to Asela Gunaratner?

LOL... do you really follow cricket? FYI Tharanga made himself unavailable only for six months during his brief tenure as ODI/t20 skipper, just to concentrate more on his responsibilities. That was well over six months ago & he is now available for Tests.

With rubbish talk u cannot deny the fact that he is continuing his immaculate form from 2017 becoming only one of the 3 guys in world cricket to top 1,000 odi runs(@ 50 av) in 2017. Now he is leading Galle side from top in current super 4 series with repeated match winning knocks. your hate against tharanga is too obvious man & if the facts are right no matter whether it was posted by Jack or Jill :))

Andrew Silva AKA See Through AKA MDK Julius Ceaser AKA Anonymous. Did you read my comments with the context? tharanga did make himself unavailable for test by letting the selectors know that he wont be available for test. But did he ever communicate that he is available to be considered for test now? I find its typical behaviour of tharanga supporters to attack anyone who wrote anything antithetical about Tharanga. Did I write anything to suggest that I hate Tharanga? Are you a mind reader? I believe he still has a role to play in our one day team, because he is in immaculate form right now. People like you so immature its time you grew up. I suggest you see a good optometrist.

Upul T. fans are just like Virus.. always come to his forum and repeat their same baila ......

when mentioned a clear time frame of six months, it doesn't go beyond that period under any context and the availability is obvious to everyone without re-announcements. No point talking with a brain dead total idiot, who assumes everything according to his tunnel-vision...

Andrew Silva alias Annoynimus alias Julius Ceaser. Pull your head in. Selectors are not mind readers. When upul said he will not be available he announced it to all and sundry, hence he should have done the same if wanted to make himself available for selection. Just to call names and ridiculing everyone with different views to yourself shows what kind of shallow mindset you have. I have read your constant posts promoting tharanga on other cricket sites. I am convinced tharanga is either your relative or you have vested interest because you are the manager of tharanga. It's okay. If you want to promote him that's your problem. But stop attacking people personally. You are just digging yourself into the hole by resorting to deplorable personal attack.
