Zimbabwe today (July 10) created history as they defeated Sri Lanka by 3 wickets in the fifth and final ODI to win the series 3-2. It was Zimbabwe's first overseas ODI series win 8 years. The last time they won an ODI series away from home was in 2009 against Kenya's.

@VIKI As much as I liked Ford, it wasn't as if we were winning consistently under him. Also the only senior player dropped was Chandimal, which I feel was right. He scored runs, but they often came in losing causes. What other senior players are there? Thirimanne? Don't make me laugh, he's done nothing. And what player do we drop to accommodate Chandimal? The top two run scorers in this series? The fourth highest run scorer this series? The captain? The batsmen who has more fifty plus scores than anyone and Joe Root since his debut? Drop anyone else and we lose a bowling option.

But really the real problem is the administration. They care more about PR than actual results. As long as it looks good, the final product doesn't matter to them. Our domestic system has needed an overhaul for while but they keep resisting. For what? Money.

Yeah a series defeat was coming when Zimbabwe created history by chasing 300plus with ease in the 1st ODI.
Bowling let us down in this series. Lasith Malinga's dissapointing show with the ball & Nuwan Pradeeps injury added salt into the wound.
Hasaranga impressed throughout the series, Akhila Dananjaya controlled things really well in the last ODI, Sandakan proved costly so as the debutant Asitha Fernando, Kulasekara's comeback didn't work.
Batting didn't really matter despite last ODI, Finally Srilanka found new opening pair for ODI's.

ASELA GUNARATHNE must come before Mathews.

Why can't our team management cannot see this.

Gunaratne is the best No 4 batsman we have had in a long long time.

Is it prejudice or pride of Mathews? that he feels he should come at 4.

It's infuriating....

@sunny yeah.when ford was there we didn't win consistently.but atleast won the teams which were ranked below us and we were searching for players in the most part of his stay.just when we found enough talents someone from australia came here and influenced him.it resulted in defeats to bangladesh and now zimbabwe at HOME.the next thing is when upul cameback to the team most of you guys commented to drop him but did he shut your mouth up or not?now you guys are supporting him and commenting that chandimal should be dropped.when KJP came you did the same but he found some form after some matches but unfortunately got injured.akila cameback to the team, struggled at the start then picked up a four fer in the next.and where is suranga lakmal?why didn't they select him?he was bowling well specially in the last couple of months?I'm not telling the youngsters are not tallented but I'm telling SL need a balanced team with experienced and young players.why don't you recall players like jeewan mendis and give them a chance just to see if they can do sometging for the team?and if you think dropping the senior players and giving youngsters is the only way then SL will be in the same position where WI are currently seated.
