"MALINGA" is no where near the bowler he was 4-5 years ago but still he is better than our younger pacers in limited overs by a country mile !! That's the sorry state of SRI LANKA CRICKET

Well said Crickster.

If our present bowlers are below 50% "Malinga", then bowlers themselves and the coaches have done nothing to improve the standards of our present bowlers. But think of the "Big money" they are paid for doing a mediocre job.

i thnk malinga is still best. despite poor run by kandy, he prooved that he is still best even in superovers. again same unlucky thng for mali is his team performance. it always affect the baller. no body at begining tried to score heavily from malinga. if scorebord pressure is there, malingas wicket column would hv been containing more

I mean do we really need a poll to decide this. Isnt this common sense? Anyone with a half a brain knows hes better than any current bowler we have.

Yeah he lost pace
Yeah his yorkers are not the same anymore
Yeah his fielding is bad

But the guy is smart, he knows where to bowl
He knows how to bowl at the death
He knows how to vary his pace

Ranganas fielding was bad, yet we still played him till he retired from odi
Murali same, yet we played a world cup final with a injured murali.

Just get him in the team!

t 20 or 50 Overs? Either way, I reckon he is over the hill and certainly so for 50 overs where his body is not able to hold out. The point is so where are we going with Malinga?

Are we expecting him to play in the next t20 WC in 2021 (or when is it?). Are we expecting him to play 9 qualifying games and then finals in the next 50 over WC in 2019? Nope in both - so what are we trying to do with the 34+ year old fast bowler who has got hammered in his last international games?

Yep sure he is still able to scare a few batters in the SL first class cricket but this is like Upul Tharanga scoring an absolute glut of runs in SL first class cricket but put a decent fast bowlers in front of him (like the recent SA series) and he is no where.
