When I first saw Sanath Jayasuriya !
After 16 long years of wait, I finally got to see my Idol/God - Sanath Jayasuriya at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore when Mumbai Indians played against Royal Challengers Bangalore. April 17th, 2010.

Yep, he has such a presence, remember when seeing him close at hand in Aug 2008...saw him in 2001 too...what a legend he was. Thanks Sujan!

First saw him in my first SL match in the Asia Cup in 2004.

It was at the Premadase (not the final), and it was a dead-rubber for us, but India needed it to get to the final. India won, but Jayasuriya scored 130 in that match. What an innings.

First time I saw him was last year at the Compaq Cup where he scored 98 against the indians and SL knocked up 300 + and crushed the Indians with Angelo Mathews taking 6 wickets.Sweet Memories

ya u know such a great almost god in current cricket ,my one and only hero also him ,he is match winning player for us, if scored runs match win by huge target ,some young cricket fans dont know who is sanath because they are not watched cricket matches @ young ages that is the reason they blame for sanath,
you are our proud sana for all time in srilankan cricket

Bullshit...I've watched Sanath since 92 and appreciated him based on his magnificent performances though I fall in to the young cricket fans category. But it's all gone now. Why do you have to keep on lamenting based on his past performances? If he can't deliver when it's needed, then what's the point? His scores in 96 aren't gonna win us matches now. Selection has to be based on most recent performances and players actual future potential with respect to his age.Letting 20 year old chandimal to underperform in 5 matches is much worthier as he gains some experience which would be useful in the long run.Letting 41 year old Sanath to mess up in at least a single match makes no sense as he is not worth of an investment.

I wonder why so called mature lankans like you do not get this point............

I don't remember the first time I saw Sanath, quite possibly the first time he ever played in a major match.

But I can tell you guys, I am trying hard to get out of my head the last time I saw him in real life. LOL. It was off field, about 4 months ago. He had no shirt on!!!(it was in a Gym).

Gay........ brother :D you gave me a pretty hard time in comprehending what u have typed. Nevertheless lets talk about the issue. Ohh apparently the selection committee loves to keep sanath in their cradle huh? Wt r u smoking?
How can they do their job in getting rid of this fellow when they are vulnerable for political influences??? According to you it's just the selectors who destroyed Sanaths name??Sanath can't be blamed at all?? hahaha you sound as if selectors are keeping sanath by force..... lmao u don't know what ur talking about. Why do you think they continued playing Sanath even after the match against australia?? Come on dont be emotional.. It's just that they could not drop him and send back due to political influences. Why can't Sanath realize that he cannot perform and retire without waiting for someone else to kick his ARSE?????You sound as if you want selectors to kick his arse and get rid of him rather than seeing Sanath retiring gracefully when he is in his peak. U r absolutely pathetic! Is that the best send-off you can provide to ur so called hero????

Join the selection committee? hahahahahaIt's the worst nightmare! Nobody wants to be a puppet under a certain political agenda. Who wants to be so? Politicians are using selectors as puppets and I simply feel sorry for them. Comeon GAY..... bro you make no sense in whatever you say :)

u r right batman87..
its difficult to understand why mr sanath jayasuriya still gets so much support..y in d world r we turning a blind eye into the 42yr old's 'activities'..
He is acting at his will(using political powers)and depriving so many young players of chances..he should be thrown out.
he has lost respect of majority of his fans and it would be very difficult to digest if he plays till 2011wc.
