I am happy but would not have taken 3 spinners for early summer NZ conditions with Milly being an able back up spinner. Also happy to see SL sticking with Kusal Mendis and I hope he comes off. Tough ask at the top of the order with an opener on debut followed by 1 cap #3 - against a seriously potent NZ new ball attack.

Overall it looks a good selection and based on the merit. Its nice to see that youngsters like kusal mendis, udara are getting chances and now its up to players to show their capability. Roshen silva is little unlucky, but currently there is no vacancy in the middle order.

For ODIs, a new off spinner should have been tested since both ajantha and senanayake have lost their rhythem.

Overall all squads look okay. But I believe they should have left out Ajanta Mendis & Dilruwan from one day & test squads.

If selectors want to test out candidates for opening and no 3 position they should have included a top order bat like Mahela Udawatte or even Angelo Perera or Rosen Silva trying them out at the top. We always had players playing in a different position which is opposed to thier usual batting position.

Nothing like trying.

I feel they missed the trick by including Dilruwan. He is just a mediocre spinner. What happened to other right arm off spinners named by Piyal Wijetunge?

Definitely a good squad.Although I don't understand why vithanage is in both the T20 and Test squad but doesn't get into the ODI squad. They should definitely rest dilshan for an ODI or two because we need to seriously have a replacement ready for when he retires.

I strongly agree with you. They completely neglected the two very good player, whom they can try easily at no. 3 position, namely Anjelo Perera and Roshen Silva. Both are equally very good players. Anjelo in particular a good choice at no. 3, as he is a very good striker. These two are always among runs, but never used them properly. These two have enough experience and with a very good average, far better than Thirimanna, Milinda, Kusal. It is always a mystery why they are not treated well. I am not telling that Thiri, Mili and Kusal are not good, they are good, but Anjelo and Roshen are bettr than them. Hope these two will have a chance in the team.
