Tharanga's problem is he's out of form, otherwise he is a good player. Dickwella's problem is he can't survive for long at the crease with his poor school boy type batting technique. He may score a fifty here and there but we can't expect him to score tons against quality bowling attacks with genuinely quick bowlers like Rabada and Ngidi.

I dont see Dickwella being in the ODI team as he fails to show much consistency in his performances. Tharanga has also been disappointing but I will still stick with him because he did leave the test side to focus on being a better ODI player. I think Tharanga should open with Kusal mendis who I remembered playing quite well when opening. I would like to see Asela come back to the side. Also I think its beat we stick to a spinner who has already played a few games rather than going with prabath jayasuriya.

Upul Tharanga
Kusal Mendis
Dhananjaya de Silva
Kusal Perera
Angelo Mathews
Asela Gunaratne (if fit)
Thisara Perera
Akila Dananjaya
Suranga Lakmal
Amila Aponso/ Lakshan Sandakan
Lahiru Kumara

Dropped for which other options that have been consistent high stickers at the top of the order?

I like StatGurus' team, it covers a number of bases including strike rates and bowling options.

Asking to drop Tharanga ????

Didn't he scored over thousand (1k+) runs @ near 50 Average & 90+ SR to become among the only 3 ODI batters in the world to do so in 2017?

He even created a SL record, carrying the bat throughout an inning vs PK with a an unbeaten ton trying single highhandedly to win a match & avoid a whitewash as did in SA with another 119 @ 130+ SR. He was the lone fighter throughout the miserable year where all top order batters collectively failed beyond hope..!!!

Upul won the MoM award in the decider final Odi in BD to win that triangular series played this year. He averaged around 40 in that previous series played in 2018.

He was run out in 1st odi & couldn't turn his good start (19 with a six & 4 going at 112 SR) to big runs in the 3rd odi, purely because trying hard to score maximum in first 10 chasing 360+ score.

He was the only guy to score runs consistently for SL since recalled late 2016. Asking to chop such a batter from a pack thin as wafer, is like removing the main cogwheel from a machine!

I like Stat Guru's team. However I will replace one shot man Seekuge Prasanna with Nishan Pieries Or Amila Aponso or even Jeffrey vandersay. I probably leave out Nuwan Pradeep and replace him with left armer Binura Fernando or even Kasun Rajitha. The reason being Nuwan Pradeep is so injury proned and breaks down so easily. We cant have any passengers (if he gets injured) in the side or call for replacements (if he cant recover during the tournament) which throws our plans awry. Choices are plenty but we need start infusing the new guys soon rather than sticking with old which hasn't yielded anything. I believe if they select the right squad and sticking to them rather than sticking to players who keeps failing doesn't help our team going forward. We only have months before the world cup. I think they should start building the side with an eye on selecting player who can deliver. We never had a decent start during this series and the top 3 didn't give us a platform to build. Which is a big concern.

I like @Suren1998 team - except for Kusal Mendis at top. Apart from the productivity shown in past 12 months, their individual career batting average is a decisive indicator for the suitability in each spot.

Upul Tharanga - 35 av
Dickwella - 32 av
Kusal Perera - 29 av
Dhananjaya de silva 26 av or K Mendis - 29 av
Angelo Mathews- 41 av (thanks to 45 Not-Outs in 169 ing = 1/4 career)
Asela Gunaratne - 29 av
Thisara Perera - 19 av
Akila Dananjaya
Suranga Lakmal
Amila Aponso/ Lakshan Sandakan
Lahiru Kumara

This polls show the general stupidity of IC voters (I guess mostly Colombo based) voting 45% asking to chop the BEST two most productive SL ODI batters in top order (as proved from their career stats. Tharanga -35 av / Dickwella - 32 av) comprised of a bunch of inconsistent batters with averages in 20s.
