Was it the right decision to include Thisara and Kusal in ODI squad?

In my opinion it was a poor decision. Kusal Perera was chosen to play an opening role, but we have Upul Tharanga and Niroshan Dickwella. I understand that you need a back up but you also have Dhanushka Gunathillaka and Dhananjaya de Silva as an option already which is more than enough. Pushpakumara should have been chosen instead of Kusal, because we havent got a strong reliable spinner at the momen, and Pushpa's first class stats show that he can be a top spinner. I also dont think Thisara's inclusion wasnt that good either. we have enough All rounders like Pathirana and Seekuge. SL should of invested in spinners like Aponso. They are never going to be chosen when playing away from home so they should have been given a chance.
I think Pathirana's inclusion was a good one. In my opinion he is our best allrounder after Mathews and Gunaratne. He takes crucial wickets and is a solid batsman aswell. From very early on i had a feeling that Gunaratne and Pathirana would prosper in the international stage. I remember there was even a poll on this website on whether Gunaratne should be dropped, and i completely backed his place because i just knew he was a good player. I have the same feeling for Pathirana too.

For first match:
Upul Tharanga
Dhanushka Gunathillaka (Dickwella is suspended)
Kusal Mendis
Dinesh Chandimal
Asela Gunaratne
Dhananjaya de Silva
Sachith Pathirana
Seekuge Prassana
Vikum Sanjaya
Lakshan Sandakan
Suranga Lakmal

Dont want to have thisara perera playing instead of dhananjaya because there would be too many allrounders. better to go with someone who can last more than 10 balls

Agree with the selection of Thisara. But very poor decision to pick Kusal Perera dropping Sandun Weerakkody. Sandun just started his career and played a brilliant knock as a middle order batsman in South Africa in a high pressure game. Definitely Sandun deserves some more chances.

I don't agree as this yet another musical chairs episode. I would have tried two other options. For example have we really tried Dasun Shanaka enough? Weerokody got a couple of chances in SA and now dropped. Also we have about 5 openers and Tharanga MUST open which means 4 others will be playing out of position (if they all play).
