Dana de S and Dimuth are the top openers from current crop. Coach’s buddy-KM is good as top order test batsman only. Domestic best test opener should be given next opportunity next. Test captaincy should be given to DK or ND who also can communicate well. Please drop negative energy Chandi bundi from all formats. This mediocre Chandi can not accelerate when required and will be a massive liability against top teams.

Just because he made 196 does not mean that he should be made the opner. I think it is a very bad move and could ruin his career. On a different pitches with better oponents with pace options he will fail. His natural instict to go for his shots is not good for an opner.

Nope, Mendis should have batted at #3 where he has done well. De Silva should have opened, given he is an opener but SLC logic is exactly this! I think Kusal is yet to settle down with his shot selection which is a major issue with the new ball.

I am not sure why we are still going about Chandi - this matter is closed, he is our key batter and has the numbers.
