Most of the recent times he got injured while batting (having already stopped bowling temporary)
He should have a proper rest of 5 6 months or so and come back 100% rather than rushing back a 75% fit Mathews and making him injured further and lose more cricket.

Well they have to consult the experts in the field (if they haven't already) and look at all options including going under the knife if possible if he plans to continue with his career. He has to also consider life beyond cricket.

Stopping bowling may help a little. But running between the wickets and fielding can't be stopped

The options should be should be stop bowling and play as a batter or stop altogether as he cannot be playing the way he is now - missing more than playing.
