Should the selectors be replaced with people like, Mahela, Murali, Thilan, Aravinda?

I think the issue with SL cricket is not only the selectors. The main issue is we are lacking quality players in the domestic level to replace the seniors. A part of this blame should go the coaches at all the levels as well. Our youngsters are way behind compared to the same in the Aus, SA, india and NZ and future looks bleak

So the whole system needs to be revisited and as quick solutions we can select few promising players and send them to Aus. for 1 year training...

I agree with Dimith. We need players who select themselves. We have ONLY TWO of them in Dilshan and Mathew. Filling the other nine positions is a big problem for us. A team like SA has Amla, De Kock, Du Plessis, ABD, JPD, Steyn and Tahir who will just walk in to the team.

As Dimith mentioned the future is bleak. Exit of Kumar is a big blow for us. But, exit of Mahela has not impacted us much since MJ was a passenger lately. So let's find someone to replace Kumar and players to fill the remaining 8 slots.

True but don`t forget there is at least one other player who had walked in to the side and had already scored 5,000+ ODI runs, before these selectors abruptly paused his career for more than 2 years, since 2013.!

if not for them, UT would have gotten a reasonable opportunity to perform (as he did that in many previous years), he would have selected himself with his bat doing the talking. Also don`t forget, he did this in the SOLITARY chance he got during the past 28 months (solitary stint with a few consecutive ODIs in the month of July 2013). He gathered 274 runs @ 39.14 Av with that unbeaten career best 174* Vs Ind in Kingston & 43 Vs SA & topped 5k runs as the 2nd fastest to do so in SL, to be axed again for another 18 months WITHOUT getting any chance thereafter, with a few consecutive ODIs to perform. Clearly selectors didn`t want to give that chance to him.

Obviously unjustified, such discrepancies prevailed throughout with this bunch of selectors, ended up with numerous inexplicable selections & omissions apparently motivated by their personal agendas & favoritism (Ultimately costing us any chances we had in WC).!

Yes time for a change but I am not in for naming players purely on their cricket performance. If the players (who obviously have the advantage over others) have an eye of a selector yes. But I am not keen on players being selectors merely because they were players.

@Dinith totally agreed. Point of interest is Pakistan, keeps churning out talented players (mainly bowlers) with a chaotic structure and will soon have two leggies playing for SA and Aus. I see decent talent comming out of Bangladesh as well and I reckon SL will have issues holding the advantage in the next series against Bangladesh (who incidently took what was one of the best choices for a coach while SLC fluffed around).

Of the 4 names in the title I say Yes only to reasoning is the other 3 names played with many of the current squad and its too soon.
These others can play a role in SLC especially at grassroots level but should not be involved as a coach or selector with national team until further on...the problem in Asian societies is how do recent players get respect/attention they deserve from those that were ex-teammates...Vaas is a good example, and secondly someone can easily accuse them of favouritism and bias.
It was to soon for Sanath to get involved with national team also
