Another blunder made by the new selection committee headed by Mr Labroy. Thisara and Sachith P should not be selected to the ODI team. at least they should have handed over the captaincy to someone who is deserved to be in the playing eleven. Thisara is not deserved to be in the team let alone be the captain.

we thought that once Jayasuriya @ Co. resigned at least the new set of selectors would make sensible selections. on the contrary they are also making the same blunders.

We continuously lost matches over the last couple of years due to selectors' madness in preferring bit and pieces all rounders who neither can bat nor can bowl over genuine batters or bowlers. why can't they select 4 genuine bowlers and 7 batters including Dhana, Asela and Mathews so that they can make up the fifth bowlers quota of 10 overs?

We have really good spiners like Amila Aponso, Vandersay, Tharindu etc who could partner with Akila.

This guy Thisara doesn't even deserve a place in the team. In fact he's nothing but a burden to the balance of the team. I'm yet to remember a day he really performed either with the bat, bowl or in the field. There are so many other talented in form players that can occupy his position. He has got enough chances and yet the selectors and the management still give him the chance to play. As for the captaincy, there are many candidates who are qualified to take that role than Thisara. Do us all a favor and please drop this guy immediately.

Captaincy should go to a consistent player who will remain in the team. Thisara is not the type of player who is able to stay on the team. The only reason he is staying in the team is because he was given the captaincy. Problem is I dont know who should be captain. Mathews and Tharanga don't want to be captain and those are the o my two players who I'm pretty sure will never be dripped from the team. I think SLC needs to try to convince Mathews to be captain again if not we will be struggling to find someone. In terms of the ODI team, I think a lot of changes are needed in terms of the XI. Niroshan Dickwella has been disappointing. Gunathilaka is also not performing. Middle eorder players like Thisara and Pathirana are not performing either so there is a really big problem.
For the future odi series' I would like to see these players in the team:

Sadeera Samarawickrama
Upul Tharanga
Dhananjaya de silva
Angelo Mathews
Kusal Perera
Asela Gunaratne
Dasun Shanaka
Jeffrey Vandersay
Akila Dananjaya
Suranga Lakmal
Nuwan Pradeep

Its disappointing to see Gunathilaka and Dickwella leave as we have seen how well they play but clearly they have been really disappointing this series. Kusal Perera will replace Dickwella. And Dhananjaya de silva replaces Gunathilaka. Or maybe Kusal mendis could be reconsidered back into the team.

His form didn't warrant the captaincy in first place and probably part of it was reward for agreeing to go to Pakistan.

Having said that I don't believe captain should be sacked after 1 or 2 series especially away from home. Can't expect miracles especially when they inherited the side as team was struggling and a change made as opposed to because previous captain retired.

If you are not the first name on the team sheet and 100% certain of your place in the team you should not be the captain. If you are not delivering a match winning performance once every 3 matches in international games you should be stopped. He did nothing expect have his bowling hammered out of sight in this series.

Thisara is the ideal captain for SL short-format. Allrounder with world-wide match wining experience in batting as well as bowling. Pleasing personality with good command of English, humble but with good leadership qualities and maintain good physique. No need the captain to be the top batsman or top bowler or top fielder. Other ten players fill those requirements. It is silly to blame the captain for losses due to failures of frontline batsmen or ineffective frontline bowlers. Instead point out the blunders of selectors and poor batting/bowling/fielding coaching. Selecting Thisara and Chandi as short- and test-format captains was a good move by SLC.
