The point is we have tried all in every possible combination over the last 2 years and made absolutely no difference. So with the WC on the way, I reckon we pick two and say "you are opening in the WC" regardless of how well or bad you do. If I was to pick two - Dhanuska and Dikka.

Agreed Stormy. They have to pick two and stick with them.

There are only 12 more ODIs for SL between now and the WC, so time has run out to keep chopping and changing. To be fair to the selectors, there have been injuries and suspensions to the various opening candidates which have forced changes.

But no matter what we do now, I fear the worst!

We are really facing an uphill task to get some wins and confidence behind us before the WC.

We have five ODIs coming up against the very strong England line up with Butler and their long line up of crack all rounders.

We then have 3 against NZ away in Dec where we have always struggled against the seaming conditions. Even with MJ, Sanga & Dilshan across 2015 & 2016, we copped a hiding in NZ winning just 3 and losing 8.

Then our last series of 5 matches is against SAF in March, where last year we lost all 5 ODIs!

This is not looking good Stormy!

@Confused, that is as tough as they come leading up the WC, could not have asked for a tougher (and better) preparation than NZ followed by SA. More importantly I hope you not standing up at the wrong time.....LMAO! Still can't get past this comment from you, it's still hilarious.

@Stormy, true, it would have been ideal prep if we weren't in such a great big hole now. Thrashings in these remaining matches aren't going to do much for our already fragile confidence.

And no, I have not been standing up at the wrong time, but SLC has been doing this for a long time now LOL!

@Suren1998, that's plain ridiculous. How could you leave out Roy Dias :)

Maybe Dickwella and Kusal Perera, have aggressive opening combination similar to how Australia had Warner-Finch, England have Roy-Hales/Bairstow, Pakistan have Zaman/Imam, or NZ with Guptill-Munro. Could give fast and aggressive opening stands, for the rest of the batting line up to take their time settle in and then push again for the last 10-15 overs with Dasun, Thisara, or other big hitters.
