definitely tharanga or dinesh chandimal!
chandimal started off first class cricket at the top of the order and can adapt, if not maybe even think about pushing up mahela to the top of the order and have chandimal in between the experience of sangakkara and samaraweera??

To leave out Chandimal from the test side is simply not an option for SL with 4 of the top seven on the wrong side of 35. Someone needs to be there to take over and that person needs to be playing - not warming the bench.

Chandimal is great, but he lacks the openers touch. Number 4 or 5 will see him come in and play himself nicely, possibly with one of the stronger team mates. Tharanga doesnt play tests, and Mubarak/Vandort/Warnapura dont compare to the other two.

Of Paranavitana and Thirrimane, Paranavitana is better, he has a better temperament and concentration than Thirrimane, who is less patient. Thirrimane is better paired off with a more experienced batsman for now.

If you wanted an experienced pair up the top of the order and chandimal in the middle order, this should be the top order:

In this way chandimal is sandwiched between the experienced duo and the openers slot goes to someone who is experienced and has the technique to bat anywhere. Mahela can adapt as good as anyone. Paranavitana and Thirimanne seem to put a lot of pressure on their partner as they seem to bat so insecurely and that only increases the pressure on the likes of Dilshan. With Mahela opening, Dilshan is free to play his natural game and mahela will compliment him as required.

We are experimenting several openers in recent times. Like Lahiru Thirimanne, Paranavithana. Selection committee chairman also stated some batsmen which they are keeping eye on. like Dimuth Karunarathne, Kushal Janith, But no body is interested about Ashen Silva(Lankan CC) which possesses almost 55 average in domestic arena. He is a genuine opener who played really well in recently concluded domestic season. Ideal for tests I think.

Since he is playing for Lankan CC, he has the opportunity to play against all the superior clubs such as Bloomfield, Colts, SSC, NCC. In that sense his stats has more value.
I don't know why he is out of selectors eyesight.
