Both WI and SL are even teams. WI has better pace bowling attack. To win the 3rd test, use above average fielders, wicket taking pace bowlers, batsmen (Roshen & Udawatta & DanaSilva) who already faced Gabriel. Avoid use of tailenders to bat in 1st innings if possible unless established batsman get stranded. I recommend only three changes: In: Danushka, Asitha Fernando, and Dasun. Rest: Lakmal, KJP and Chandi. Dikka (c) and KM (vc). Batting line up to put runs on the board: Opens with Dana Silva & Udawatta, 3) Roshen, 4) KM, 5) Dikka, 6) Danushka, 7) Dasun, 8) Akila. Pacers: 9) Kumara 10) Rajitha 11) Asitha. Supporting bowlers Akila, Dasun, Danushka, DanaSilva are good alrounders with bowling, batting & fielding unlike Herath. Since WI main attack is from Gabriel and Roach, overrated Herath should be excluded to strengthen batting and fielding. Bring W for Chandi, who got stung by vipers.

VC not listed in options? If the are given that position they must captain otherwise why designate them as VC. I agree with Black in post #3

The argument by Black and delan82 that Lakaml should be the captain for the next match looks very strong. I am sure they based their logic on the assumption that the captain and VC were selected for the whole tour.
But, I feel that it is not so. I think the selection for the VC is for match by match, not for all matches. This allows more flexibility in planning during the whole tour.

Yep it was based on that assumption for away tours as most sides do.

I can't recall if they actually named a designated VC for this series like previous ones, hence asked in one of Mr X's posts then someone said Lakmal so going with him if he was named as one.

But I do see merit in what you are saying about flexibility of the XI for each game. And some sporting teams have had multiple VCs.
I just thought be must have got official named as the one but if he didn't happy to say I have wrong info.

Added to your point about flexibility is to prevent a repeat of past where out of form VCs eg Thiramanne were kept in side way to long after repeated failures.
