Stormy plz don't shout now like a child you are the most one who supported when appointing Marvan as the head coach and supported like no other when most of other and me never supported.

Now is acting like who can't remember anything. What a shame !

Well said Cricket StatsGuru. Stromy and his friend Uppercut were the main guys who were supporting Marvan when he was appointed. Now he is in the opposite camp. He is having a touch of amnesia I wonder. Stormy & Uppercut do you still hold the view that Marvan is a great coach? Even after he has clearly proven he is the worst coach Sri Lanka ever had.

@Statsguru and annonymous etc - I usually dont get in to debates unless it's reasonably intellignet but wish to make a comment here on what appears to be the limited comprehension ability of some of us.

When Marvan was appointed, it was a two horse race between Marvan and some unknown chap from England. 3 prvious foreign coaches (Bayliss, Marsh and Farbrace) either left early or left crying foul. We had limited funding to afford the numerous fancy coaches being thrown around. Under these circumstances, I felt Marvan was the best choice - between Marvan and some unknown Englishman. I felt appointing a local coach who had already served a few years under many foregin coach was a reasonable move and thought the appointement should be for 2 years minimum.

Finally, I give comments and opinions but not a guarantee that I am correct. This is a forum to exchange ideas and opinions, some of which may be wrong or not to everyone's liking. Grow up and enjoy the flow and try to stay away from personal attacks - I am sure there are other forms for children and fanatics.

@Stormy, my recollection of your comments at the time of the search for a coach are in line with yours. Your basic view was that SLC could not afford a top class foreign coach, Marvan already had experience within the team as a player and coach including interim head coach on the tour to England, the unknown other candidate was a mystery. Essentially your view was better the devil you know than one you do not. You also supported a two year appointment. From my perspective, this is a straw man controversy.

I also agree with your other point regarding the use of personal attacks. Insults are usually the last refuge of those who do not have substance to support their positions on issues. There are one or two commenters on this website who are particularly prone to personal attacks. I have always wondered why the moderator/administrators allow such comments to be published. If they do not maintain standards for the website, who should? Different strokes for different folks so we are going to have diverse opinions on the same subject. That is the basic rationale for this forum. Why is it allowed to degenerate into slanging matches rather than courteously worded disagreements. We do not have to be disagreeable when we disagree.

I am not holding my breath waiting for change.

If I had to pick one from the list, Tom Moody would be it. He did an excellent job, has good knowledge and all-round skills, and involved in media at moment so keeping well up to date. Whether he would be available is a different issue.

I don't like to pinch coaches that are currently with other international teams. Both Dav and Bayliss did good job with us but committed to other teams. And similar with Farbrace.

Graham Ford would be good also. But he had issues committing last time. If he was to come back I hope he could stay for a reasonable period of time.

I find some of us here trying to divert attention by calling typical synonyms like childish, fanatics, immature and of course crying foul by asking for administrator for help.

Siridena most of us know what you are and what you stand for. Mysteriously you went missing during election. I wonder what you were up to. I know you were on the side who lost. I read all your comments during the Pakistan series. Now playing the innocent and victim card.
Please don't try to hide that white van. It's too late.

Stromy. I suggest you answer the question rather than playing the man. No one including Cricket StatsGuru attacked you personally. Everyone remember what you said and are just posing the question. Do you think Marvan was the best choice? I don't think you said that at the time of appointment that he was because you were comparing with other candidates. I hope you go back and check your comments.

Sirisena don't poke your head trying to be a mediator. It's a forum for matured adults. Not for immature crawlers who likes to hang on to others to survive.
