just FYI: Malinga has been playing under Rhodes for around 5 years(may be even more), can't see any improvement in his fielding standards.

Fielding is an 'attitude' rather than a skill... and only individuals responsible for their own attitudes. Cannot teach that or coach that...

This is a good start by the IC. Yes a full time fielding coach is needed not just 10 days.
Where I think this stint will be beneficial is him showing coaching personnel/management techniques, skills, drills etc that can be used to lift standards and then they themselves will need to impart this onto players in all divisions.

If they are looking at merely changing the national team in 10 days it will be difficult, but if the point is to impart the knowledge further down then I think it is worthwhile.

Australia in recent times considered fielding so important they had 2 coaches. One that specialised in techniques of throwing, whether it be from outfield or at stumps from close in, the other worked on catching, ground fielding/movement, with fitness staff directly linked. The two areas almost go hand in hand.

For the last 12 months or so fielding (and fitness) have deteriorated and no-one has bothered to try sort it out, so credit to IC for trying something, than just sitting back and waiting

No it wont, not in 10 days - this is a panadol for a broken bone case. Its a pain relief excercise and not addressing the problem. SL's fielding in the recent past has been poor and needs a better plan than 10 days of Jonty.
